Local Bicycle Tours

The reBike clubhouse is located near the junction of 2 great trails.

The Sakatah trail is one of the longest in the state (the longest at one time) it stretches for 39 miles from Mankato to Fairbault through some farmland and a few towns along the way. The Sakatah passes through the Sakatah State Forest and is home to a large variety of birds, flowers and wildlife. In Mankato, the trail can be accessed in town, near the depot, Lime Valley Road entrance, and there is a trailhead on Highway 22. The trail itself is relatively smooth and flat with a good portion of it shaded by trees. If you have never traveled it, you're in for a treat, it's a very nice trail.

Sakatah Trail Leaving Elysian

The opposite direction is the Red Jacket trail, unlike the Sakatah, the Red Jacket is not a state trail. It is also considerably smaller than the Red Jacket, although the trail can be continued all the way to Lake Crystal by roadway. The variety of wildlife and flora is less, but nonetheless, it is a very popular trail and you will find it busy on weekends. Earlier this year, reBike considered hosting tours, and are still interested in doing so for groups, but our personnel and time are limited. If your group would like to try out the trail some weekend, and need a guide, give reBike a call and ask. We can also outfit you with inexpensive, well maintained bicycles, which can optionally purchase after the ride.
